Unlike The Red Call Boxes The Telephones Were Located Behind A Small Hinged Window So It Could Be Accessed From The Outside As Well As The Interior. In Effect These Were Like Minature Police Stations.
Police Officers Also Used These Kiosks To Take A Break From The Beat And Have Their Cups Of Tea And Snacks.
